Christmas shopping for .shop domains has just become free! Two domain registrars, Moniker and Domaindiscount24 begin to offer them for free until 23 December 2016.

The Christmas special applies to one domain per account so it’s not likely to witness the growth and abuse that happened with free registrations in other TLDs (Top-Level Domains) in the past.

The new gTLD (generic Top-Level Domain) .shop can be used by any person or organization selling goods or services online or offline. It makes the domain name even more meaningful to visitors and can well be used as part of your marketing strategies.

It is interesting to note that .shop domains are most popular in Germany so far — over a quarter of all 100,000 .shop domains are registered in that country.
