Wholesale Domain Registrar Enom to be Acquired by Tucows

On 20 January 2017, Tucows, a network access and domain names provider, announced that they would acquire domain registrar eNom from Rightside Group.

The combined entity will then be the second biggest domain registrar in the world. The deal costs $83.5 mln to Tucows. The acquisition will add 14 mln domains and 28,000 active resellers to Tucows network.

Tucows’ top management claims that since eNom and OpenSRS fit well together (as leading registrars serving resellers), the acquisition will create immense value by means of efficiency and scale both for the company and resellers.

Naturally, domain rebranding is in order: Tucows will become Threecows.
