Belgian Domains are Registered in Ireland after Moving Backend to Cloud

DNS Belgium, which manages the .be domain registry, has moved its shared registration systems to the cloud. The registry migrated from a self-hosted system to Amazon Web Services (AWS) in an effort to cut costs, increase efficiency and free up resources necessary to direct to software instead of hardware maintenance.

AWS allows customers to choose the data centers where their applications will be stored and DNS Belgium opted for Ireland as one of the longest established centers.

During the actual migration, the registry was shut down.
